How to help Yourself

There is a range of things that you can do to help improve your mental wellbeing.  Steps can be simple and tailored to your own ability -

  1. Connect with other people
Spend time with friends or family, have lunch with a colleague, volunteer at your local school or hospital, use technology like FaceTime to keep in contact with friends far away.

  1. Be physically active
Activities can be tailored to your own needs and abilities.

Statistics on Mental Health

Research shows that about 40% of people with a long-term condition have a mental health concern.

People with CHD may experience mental health conditions due to traumatic experiences and prolonged intensive care treatment. Rates vary, but people with CHD may be five times more likely to have mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Konstantinos' Story

Dear patients, dear friends,

I’ ve decided to write down and share my personal story with you, just to highlight certain points which I believe are crucial and of course relevant. It is up to you whether you publish, edit or dismiss it altogether. You can use my name, I do not mind at all, just the opposite.

Well, I’ m Konstantinos Chortis, born in 1969, in Australia. I grow up in my homeland, Greece, and on a small but well known to the visitors from Europe island (Leykada).
